Immigration Evaluations

If you have an open case with United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), your attorney may recommend a mental health evaluation as part of your immigration proceedings. At Tierra y Alma Counseling Services, these evaluations are conducted with both professionalism and compassion, honoring the courage it takes to share your story in such an important context.

With specialized training and extensive experience, I provide evaluations for individuals navigating U-Visa, T-Visa, and VAWA petitions. Over the years, I have supported many survivors of domestic violence and other crimes by providing letters and detailed reports that highlight the emotional impact of their experiences.

What are they?

Immigration evaluations include a 3 hour interview where we explore the psychological and emotional effects of trauma, hardship, or crime — offering objective documentation that can strengthen your legal case. Reports are written with both clinical depth and heart, ensuring your voice and truth are represented with clarity and dignity.

When available and appropriate, I may review objective documentation related to what is being reported, communicate with attorneys or other professionals with your consent, and speak with supportive collateral contacts to help provide additional context. I also incorporate evidence-based research and standardized clinical assessment tools to thoughtfully assess your mental health and determine whether a clinical diagnosis may be appropriate.

My approach is rooted in cultural awareness and sensitivity. I understand the layers of family, cultural, and societal influences that shape each person’s story, and strive to create a safe space where you feel respected and supported throughout the evaluation process.

Immigration evaluations are not just clinical documentation — they are a reflection of your resilience and strength.
